Scotland’s Slim Qualification Path: At Least Four Results Must Go Their Way

Scotland’s route to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has become extremely narrow after their group‑stage run of three matches:

  • Lost 3–0 to Brazil
  • Lost 1–0 to Morocco
  • Beat Haiti 1–0

Softfootball understands that, based on the current standings and qualification permutations, Scotland now require at least four of the following six results across other groups to stand any chance of progressing.

Results Scotland Need (At Least Four Must Happen)

  • Iran lose to Egypt
  • Uruguay lose to Spain
  • Senegal fail to beat Iraq
  • Austria beat Algeria by 2+ goals
  • DR Congo fail to beat Uzbekistan
  • Ghana beat Croatia by 3+ goals

From the top of the list, the scenario appears mathematically possible. But from the bottom, the picture becomes far more difficult and the overall outlook suggests Scotland are heading home unless a remarkable combination of results unfolds.
