Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has stated that his goal-scoring achievements are more impressive than those of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland due to the differences in their playing positions.
The Egyptian forward made his comments ahead of Liverpool’s crucial Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Softfootball highlights that Salah believes wingers face greater challenges in reaching high scoring quotas compared to central strikers who operate closer to the goal.
Salah explained that while he respects Haaland, the nature of his own role requires more effort to find the back of the net consistently. He stated:
I respect him a lot. We may have only spoken once after the last game. But he’s a striker, so his life is easier. I wish him all the best, of course.
The Liverpool captain emphasized that the tactical demands on a winger make consistent scoring difficult. He added:
But his life is easy because he plays as a striker. As a winger, getting that kind of quota is pretty difficult. Any winger can tell you that. That’s why I see it differently between us, because he’s a striker and I’m a winger.
