“He’s in a really good place and he’ll definitely see the pitch at some point on Friday.”

While Sarr was recalled in January and needs a short period to re-adjust, Rosenior hinted that his familiarity with the system makes him a strong candidate to start or play significant minutes.

Sarr’s return comes at a good time for Chelsea, with defensive options being tested. Marc Cucurella was forced off in the 2–2 draw with Leeds on February 10, and the club are still waiting on scan results to assess the extent of his injury.

Rosenior is expected to rotate his squad for the trip to Hull, with youngsters likely to get opportunities as Chelsea balance the league and cup schedule.

There have been plenty of positives on the pitch. João Pedro continues to impress, with Rosenior praising his energy and versatility after another big showing against Leeds.

The Brazilian has now hit double figures in league goals this season and is becoming a key figure in Chelsea’s attack. The Blues also come into the FA Cup tie off the back of a strong run of form, including a 3–1 win over Wolves at Molineux, their fourth straight league victory under Rosenior.

Softfootball reports that Rosenior rates Sarr extremely highly, having worked with him previously at Strasbourg.

The Chelsea coach has even described the young defender as having “world-class potential,” underlining how important this comeback could be for the player’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

With rotations expected at the MKM Stadium, Friday’s cup clash offers Sarr the perfect platform to reintroduce himself to the Chelsea faithful and to stake a claim for a bigger role in the months ahead.
