Last season’s NPFL champions Remo Stars have been relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League after a 1–1 draw away to Bendel Insurance. A disappointing and dramatic end to the campaign for the Sky Blue Stars, who drop to the second tier just one season after lifting the league title.
Softfootball gathered that Remo Stars will now compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) next season, joining El Kanemi Warriors, Bayelsa United, and Wikki Tourists in the relegation zone.

In an emotional statement released by the club, Remo Stars admitted the season fell far below expectations and described the outcome as heartbreaking for everyone connected to the team.
Remo Stars Club Statement
Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Remo Stars will now compete in the Nigeria National League for next season.
This outcome is heartbreaking for everyone connected to the club — our supporters, players, staff, management and the entire Remo Stars family who have invested their emotions, energy and belief into this journey.
We understand the disappointment and frustration this season has brought. The expectations attached to this club were high, and rightly so. Unfortunately, we did not deliver the performance or consistency required to maintain our place in the division. We take full responsibility for that failure.
Remo Stars remains a club built on vision, ambition, hard work and the unwavering spirit of our community.
To our fans who filled the stands, supported the team online, and stood by us even during our darkest moments — thank you. Your loyalty means everything, and we recognise that we owe you much more than what this season produced.
Our focus now turns toward rebuilding with purpose and determination. Important decisions will be made, and every effort will be directed towards returning the club where it belongs.

On the other hand, Rangers International have strengthened their legacy in Nigerian football after a 2–1 victory over Ikorodu City on Sunday secured the 2025/2026 NPFL title. The triumph at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena delivered Rangers’ ninth league crown, drawing them level with Enyimba as the most decorated sides in NPFL history.
