Former Real Madrid midfielder Luis Milla believes Los Blancos have struggled this season because of the void left by the retired Toni Kroos.
Softfootball reports that Milla admitted replacing Kroos’ influence in midfield will be a difficult task for manager Carlo Ancelotti.
While he sees Luka Modrić as the closest option, he noted that the veteran midfielder must be carefully managed and cannot be expected to feature every week.

Despite Real Madrid’s inconsistent start to the campaign, Milla remains confident the Spanish giants will recover and challenge for major honours.
He believes the club’s quality and winning mentality will ultimately shine through, insisting Real Madrid have the squad and experience needed to fight for their objectives by the end of the season.
Softfootball understands that Real Madrid are expected to rely on the experience of players like Luka Modrić and the tactical expertise of Carlo Ancelotti as they seek to overcome their early-season struggles and mount a strong challenge for domestic and European honours.
