Real Madrid Aim to Extend Winning Streak as Levante Chase Upset in La Liga Clash, Lineup

Softfootball reports that La Liga leaders Real Madrid are in the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia tonight looking to maintain their perfect start to the season, while newly-promoted Levante will be hoping to ride the momentum from their first win of the campaign.

Levante, back in the top flight for the first time since 2021/22, had a rough start with three straight defeats, they were so close to a draw in the 3-2 lose against Barcelona and also suffered defeat against Alavés, , and Elche. But Julian Calero’s men have since steadied the ship, taking four points from their last two matches.

After a spirited 2-2 draw with Real Betis, they hammered nine-man Girona 4-0 on Saturday, with Karl Etta Eyong, Carlos Álvarez, Iván Romero, and Goduine Koyalipou all on the scoresheet. That victory has injected confidence ahead of what promises to be their toughest test yet.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are flying under new manager Xabi Alonso. The former midfield maestro has overseen six wins from six games in all competitions, including five in La Liga. Los Blancos followed up Champions League success over Marseille with a 2-0 win against Espanyol at the weekend thanks to goals from Éder Militão and Kylian Mbappé. The clean sheet also continued Madrid’s impressive defensive start, as they have not conceded more than one goal in any match so far under Alonso.

History, however, warns against complacency. Real Madrid have failed to win six of their last 10 meetings with Levante, although they will recall with fondness their last encounter in May 2022 when Vinícius Júnior bagged a hat-trick in a 6-0 rout at the Bernabéu.

For Alonso, the trip comes just days before a Madrid derby against Atlético, but he knows keeping momentum is key. Levante will be dangerous, but Madrid’s depth, form, and firepower make them heavy favourites to stretch their winning run to seven.
