PSG prepare fresh bid for Illya Zabarnyi as Bournemouth transfer talks heat up

Paris Saint-Germain are set to table a renewed offer for Bournemouth’s Ukrainian centre-back Illya Zabarnyi, with transfer negotiations expected to accelerate in the coming days.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is deeply involved in the process, highlighting PSG’s strong intent to land their top defensive target this summer.

Softfootball understands that Zabarnyi reached a verbal agreement with PSG back in June, and the club is expected to return to the table with Bournemouth soon, despite some speculation linking him to a other Premier League club.

Bournemouth currently values their key player at approximately €70 million. It’s worth noting that Zabarnyi’s contract with the Cherries runs through the summer of 2029, giving the English side significant leverage in these discussions.

According to Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he shared on his X handle in the early hours on Saturday that Zabarnyi is keen on a move to PSG, with the French club preparing an improved offer.

The tweet reads:

“Paris Saint-Germain have new bid ready for Ilya Zabarny as talks are set to accelerate with Bournemouth.

“Nasser Al Khelaifi, also involved as PSG want to get their top centre back target”.

The south coast club are under no pressure to sell, having already brought in £40m from the sale of left-back Milos Kerkez to Liverpool earlier this summer.

PSG who reached the Club World Cup final earlier this summer, are not expected to reconvene for pre-season training until 4 August, which could give both sides additional time to reach a full agreement.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have already begun exploring replacements for Zabarnyi. Their £26m bid for Lille’s Bafodé Diakité was recently rejected, with the Ligue 1 side holding out for £35m, a figure the Premier League club currently deem too high.

With the transfer window still open and Zabarnyi seen as a long-term defensive solution by PSG, discussions are expected to continue into August.
