Barcelona midfielder Pedri has described the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao as a major challenge while stressing the importance of lifting the trophy.
Softfootball gathered that Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in Jeddah as they aim to reach another Super Cup final and continue building momentum under Hansi Flick.
Introducing his expectations ahead of the clash, Pedri admitted the encounter will not be straightforward. He said:
The Super Cup is a very nice title. It comes in the middle of the season and winning it gives the team confidence. Athletic have a great team with quality players, so it will be difficult. We beat them earlier this season and we want to do it again.
The Spain international also reflected on Barcelona’s triumph in the 2023 final against Real Madrid, recalling his goal and Gavi’s outstanding display as memorable moments.
Barcelona will be hoping history repeats itself as they continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
