Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has described representing Nigeria as one of the greatest honours of his career, saying every opportunity to wear the Super Eagles shirt brings him immense pride.
The versatile full-back, who has been one of Forest’s standout performers this season, also expressed his excitement about playing in front of Nigerian supporters.
Aina believes the passion of the fans makes every international appearance special despite the pressure that comes with representing one of Africa’s biggest football nations. He also praised the unity within the Super Eagles squad and hopes to continue serving the national team for many more years.
Speaking in an interview, Aina said:
It means a lot. It’s a big honor to play for the Super Eagles. Every time I put the jersey on, it’s a great feeling that can’t really be matched. I love playing for Nigeria and hopefully I can keep playing for many more years.
The defender also backed Nottingham Forest’s ambitions this season, saying:
We like to dream and we’re working hard for a dream that’s attainable.
