Nottingham Forest’s European night ended in frustration again after a 3-2 defeat at home to Danish side FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The result stretched their winless run to six matches under Ange Postecoglou since his appointment as the new Nottingham Forest manager, as reported by Softfootball, with the club picking up just one point from six group stage games.
Their campaign looks finished before it ever really began, leaving them outside the qualification spots and the pressure mounting fast.

The game itself swung back and forth in the first half. Midtjylland struck first in the 18th minute through Ousmane Diao, who netted his first goal of the competition. Forest’s response was quick, as Dan Ndoye equalised only four minutes later to lift the home crowd. But almost immediately, the defensive frailties returned. Within two minutes, Mads Bech found space to head home and restore the Danish side’s lead, exposing once again Forest’s soft underbelly from set plays.
The hosts pressed hard in the second half, racking up more than 20 shots, yet they lacked sharpness when it mattered most. Midtjylland always looked threatening on the counter and killed the contest in the 88th minute, when Valdemar Andreasen finished off a slick move to make it 3-1. Chants of Ange getting sacked in the morning echoed around the City Ground which is definitely a clear sign of discontent. Chris Wood’s penalty in stoppage time reduced the deficit, but it was far too late.
Even after being impressed with his team’s progress after the 1-1 draw against Burnley as reported by Softfootball, Postecoglou admitted after the match that he understood the fans’ anger but stressed his focus remains on results. According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, Ange pointed out that performances have been compelling at times, but winning games is all that counts.

With 13 goals conceded in six games and defensive lapses showing no sign of disappearing, Forest are heading into dangerous territory. An upcoming clash with Newcastle in the Premier League now feels massive, not just for points but perhaps for Postecoglou’s future too.
