Despite all the noise in the media, it turns out neither Manchester United nor Chelsea are in actual talks with PSG over talented Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Softfootball has gathered that, contrary to recent reports from both England and France, there’s been no formal approach made by either Premier League club for the Italian goalkeeper, whose contract at Paris Saint-Germain is in its final year.

It was earlier reported that Chelsea aren’t currently pursuing Donnarumma, and as for Manchester United, there’s no sign they’ve opened negotiations with PSG either. The interest may be there, but as things stand, nothing official is happening, much to the dismay of fans in England, especially Manchester United fans, who would wish for a better option than Onana.
Transfer expert and sports journalist Fabrizio Romano also poured cold water on the rumours. Posting on his official X account, he wrote:
“No talks ongoing at this stage between Gigio Donnarumma and Man United or Chelsea. Nothing concrete ongoing despite reports..”
Earlier, Softfootball had reported that Donnarumma’s contract situation made him an attractive option in the transfer market. With his deal set to expire in less than a year, questions about his future are inevitable. Some reports even insist that United and Chelsea are still monitoring the situation closely.

However, other sources believe Donnarumma is inclined to stay in Paris. The 26-year-old has made 160 appearances for PSG since his arrival and has picked up multiple Ligue 1 titles, along with the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League crown earlier this year.
His journey began in Castellammare di Stabia, his hometown, before moving to AC Milan at 14. He made his senior debut at just 16 years old in a 2–1 win over Sassuolo that ended a three-game losing streak for Milan.
Where he goes next remains to be seen. But if Donnarumma does decide to leave PSG, there’s little doubt that top clubs across Europe will be queueing up for his signature.
