Head coach Eric Chelle has warned against complacency. Although some rotation is expected, Nigeria still want to finish the group with a perfect record and carry confidence into the knockout stage.

Uganda, on the other hand, are under pressure. After losing 3–1 to Tunisia and drawing 1–1 with Tanzania, they must win to stay alive. Uganda posted on their official x handle updates of their final training session ahead of the match.
