Neymar Jr. has ended discussions with FC Cincinnati over a possible move to Major League Soccer following the breakdown of negotiations.

The Brazilian forward, who was initially facing uncertainty over his place in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup plans before eventually earning a call-up, is now fully focused on the tournament after deciding to move away from talks with the MLS club.

Softfootball understands that negotiations between Neymar and FC Cincinnati stalled due to a lack of progress, with no official offer presented despite club representatives travelling to Brazil in April to discuss a potential deal.

Neymar remains under contract with Santos until late 2026, and the forward could now consider other opportunities, including the possibility of continuing his career with the Brazilian club. His immediate priority, however, is preparing for the World Cup and contributing on the international stage.

The 34-year-old has been managing his career carefully following recent injury struggles and a return to Santos, where he has looked to regain his rhythm and fitness.

While a move to MLS had been considered as a possible next chapter after the World Cup, the collapse of talks with Cincinnati leaves Neymar’s future open, with more decisions expected after the tournament.
