The Brazil Football Federation have issued an update on Neymar’s condition, confirming that the national team’s number 10 underwent an MRI scan on Monday, 8 June 2026, with results showing he is in good condition as he continues his recovery.

This was the federation’s official statement:

Neymar underwent MRI on Monday and tests showed a good evolution in his treatment , within the expected parameters.

He will follow the recovery preparation process planned by the medical commission of the Brazilian National Team.

Neymar’s inclusion in the World Cup squad has sparked debate among fans, with some arguing that Chelsea forward João Pedro would have been a better option given Neymar’s recent fitness struggles. Despite the criticism, Brazil’s technical staff remain confident in Neymar’s importance and experience.

At the moment, Softfootball cannot confirm Neymar’s exact return date. However, indications suggest he could miss Brazil’s first two group‑stage matches at the 2026 World Cup as he continues his rehabilitation.
