Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign Amar Dedić in a deal worth €35 million, including a sell-on clause for the Portuguese club.

Benfica had wanted to keep the 23-year-old full-back, but Dedić made joining Newcastle his top priority and is now excited about working under manager Matthias Jaissle.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international had already agreed personal terms with Newcastle, with the remaining club-to-club negotiations now successfully concluded.

Earlier this morning, Softfootball reported that Newcastle were set to close the deal after scheduling a final round of talks with Benfica.

Dedić has been identified as an important addition to Jaissle’s squad, with the defender set to provide another option across the full-back positions.

The agreement now puts Dedić on course to complete his move to St James’ Park, where he will begin a new chapter in the Premier League.
