New Nottingham coach, Postecoglou gets four assistants

There is a new, fresh breath at the Nottingham Forest technical crew as the EPL resumes this weekend from its recess due to the two-week international break. Aside from seeing Ange Postecoglou on the sideline this weekend, four of his right-hand men will also be seen as they have joined the former Tottenham coach at the City Ground.

Softfootball reports that Nottingham Forest have officially confirmed the appointments of quartet Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery, Sergio Raimundo and Rob Burch as part of Ange Postecoglou’s new coaching team at the City Ground. Postecoglou only joined Nottingham less than 48 hours ago, having been offered a two-year deal by the English side.

According to the statement gathered from the club website, former Tottenham player and Australian captain Jedinak will join Postecoglou at Forest, as well as, other technical crew.

The statement read in part as this:

Jedinak, who himself played nearly 100 times in the Premier League and worked with Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, arrives as Assistant Coach. The 41-year-old also played 79 times for Australia and was handed the captain’s armband by Postecoglou ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, others like Montgomery and Raimundo also joined as assistant coaches, both having previously worked under Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur. Montgomery, a former midfielder, has over 350 appearances for Sheffield United, and as a head coach, he guided Central Coast Mariners to the A-League Men Championship title in 2023.

Raimundo, aged 41, links up once again with both Montgomery and Postecoglou. His résumé includes wide-ranging international coaching experience, having worked in Senegal, Brazil, Canada and Austria before spells in Australia and England. Burch, who previously worked alongside Postecoglou at Tottenham as a goalkeeping coach, joins Forest to continue in the same role.

All four quartets will be assisting Postecoglou within the duration of his contract at Nottingham Forest as they compete both in the league and the Europa League, which he won with Tottenham last season, defeating Manchester United.
