Matheus Cunha, Mount, Dalot out of Manchester derby, Amorim confirms

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that he will be missing three players ahead of Sunday’s derby against neighbours Manchester City.

Softfootball can reveal that the three players are Diogo Dalot, Mason Mount and new signing Matheus Cunha. Amorim had earlier raised concern over the injuries of Cunha and Mount after the home win over Burnley at Old Trafford.

For Dalot, he had muscle pain and pulled out of Portugal’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers during the international break.

During the press conference for the match which will be held at the Etihad, Amorim was asked during the interview shared by Manchester United via their official club media, about the health of the trio. He replied:

“I think they are out for this game. I don’t know how long it is going to take. We need those players to be a very, very competitive team, but we have very good players that are eager to play, so we will be competitive on Sunday, but they are out, they cannot help us in this game.

I don’t want to say [how long they will be out]. If you talk with Cunha, if you catch Cunha outside, he will say he can play this game! So I don’t know. We will manage day by day, but they are pushing hard and that is a good thing.

Manchester United are currently in ninth place, having won one, drawn one and lost one which gives them four points while Manchester City are placed 13th after just one win and two defeats.
