Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has acknowledged the quality of Al Ahly after his side were held to a goalless draw in their Club World Cup opener.
Softfootball reports that the Argentine coach was fully aware of the challenge presented by the Egyptian champions before the meeting at Hard Rock Stadium.
Al Ahly created several opportunities but were unable to find a breakthrough. Inter Miami also had chances to win the contest, with Lionel Messi remaining a major threat throughout the 90 minutes.

The result nevertheless left both teams with a point as the group campaign began. Mascherano’s side entered the tournament under considerable attention because of Messi’s presence and the club’s growing international profile.
The Argentine manager has repeatedly stressed the importance of competing seriously against experienced teams from other continents. Al Ahly, meanwhile, brought extensive continental experience into the fixture and demonstrated why they are one of Africa’s most successful clubs.
The draw leaves Inter Miami needing stronger results in their remaining Group A matches if they are to advance to the knockout stages. Messi and his teammates will therefore have to improve their attacking efficiency while maintaining their defensive organisation
