Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has praised Fulham’s attacking trio of Alex Iwobi, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez after their influential performances in the visitors’ dramatic 2-1 Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge.

Fulham overturned a first-half deficit with two late goals to secure their first league win at Chelsea since 1979, exposing the Blues on the counter-attack during an impressive second-half display.

Softfootball understands Maresca admitted his side struggled to contain Fulham’s pace and transition play after losing control of the contest.

Reacting after the defeat, the Italian highlighted the qualities of Fulham’s key attacking players. Maresca told reporters:

Yeah. It is exactly what I said to them. That we can manage the game better,

The Chelsea boss admitted his team allowed too many transition opportunities after the break, which ultimately proved costly against Marco Silva’s side.

I think we conceded too many transitions in the second half. It is a team with Iwobi, Adama, Jimenez. They are very good in transition. And you have to control better.

Maresca also viewed the disappointing result as an opportunity for his young squad to improve.

But it is a game that we can learn many things,

he added.
