Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Asensio on loan for the remainder of the season.
Villa manager Unai Emery has been a long-term admirer of the Spanish playmaker and is now close to bringing the experienced attacker to Villa Park after talks with the French champions progressed.
According to reports monitored by Softfootball, Asensio had already indicated his interest in moving to Aston Villa during the January transfer window after finding it difficult to secure regular playing time under PSG manager Luis Enrique.
The 29-year-old has started eight Ligue 1 matches this season and has made just two starts in the UEFA Champions League. Despite his limited opportunities, Asensio has contributed six goals and assists in 12 league appearances.
The former Real Madrid star joined PSG as a free agent in 2023 after his contract with the Spanish giants expired. He is entering the final year of his current PSG deal this summer, having previously attracted interest from Villa before choosing to move to France.
