Marc-André ter Stegen has praised Barcelona’s impressive start to the season, describing his former club as “unstoppable” while applauding the work being done under head coach Hansi Flick.
Ter Stegen, who is currently rebuilding his career away from Barcelona, returned to the Germany starting XI during the international break and was asked about his former side’s strong run of form. The goalkeeper made it clear that he continues to follow Barcelona and is pleased with their progress under Flick.
The German believes Barcelona’s performances are a reflection of the hard work being put in by Flick and his players. Despite no longer being part of the squad, Ter Stegen remains supportive of the club and wishes them continued success from afar.
Softfootball reports that Ter Stegen’s comments come after Barcelona defeated Sevilla 3–1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with Raphinha producing a sensational hat-trick to secure another important victory for Flick’s side.
Flick has also explained the tactical decision behind Raphinha’s role as a central striker. The Barcelona coach revealed that the technical staff decided to deploy the Brazilian as a No. 9, with the move allowing him to operate closer to goal and make better use of his movement and attacking qualities.
Raphinha responded emphatically against Sevilla, scoring three times as Barcelona maintained their strong start to the campaign. Flick subsequently described the Brazilian’s form as spectacular and praised his leadership, connection with the supporters and contribution to the team.
Ter Stegen’s praise underlines the positive impression Barcelona’s performances under Flick are currently making, even as the German goalkeeper continues his own journey away from Camp Nou.
