Despite growing rumors in recent days, Softfootball reports that there is no ongoing negotiation between Manchester United and FC Barcelona over Spanish midfielder Fermín López.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has shut down speculations, making it clear that no discussions have been initiated between both clubs.

Romano, writing on his official X account, stated:
“No negotiations between Man United and Barça for Fermin López despite recent links. There’s nothing at all at this stage with Fermin fully focused on Barça.”
The 22-year-old midfielder, currently on Barcelona’s pre-season tour in South Korea that is currently being bossed by Lamine Yamal, is seen as a valuable piece for the Catalan club despite not being a guaranteed starter.
He remains under contract until 2029, with a €1 billion release clause, underlining the club’s long-term faith in his abilities.
Nonetheless, the rising interest in the young Andalusian has been noted across Europe. Reports suggests that Man. United are preparing a sizeable bid worth over €70 million for López, a proposal reportedly driven by new manager Ruben Amorim, who sees Fermín as a strong fit for his tactical setup. Amorim values his energy, eye for goal, and developmental potential.
Though Barcelona have received approaches from clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Saudi Arabian teams in recent months, the club’s current stance remains unmoved.

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has ruled out a sale unless the player himself explicitly requests a departure, which has not occurred, as the Spaniard is a true Barcelona fan, and he is currently banking on himself to come out on top in the ongoing brawl with Dani Olmo for the Barcelona No. 10 spot despite being behind his Spanish counterpart.
While López may desire more playing time, he remains committed to his current project at Barcelona. As of now, there is no indication that the midfielder intends to force an exit.
Ultimately, unless Fermín personally expresses a wish to leave and the financial offer is overwhelming, he will stay at Camp Nou a decision that aligns with both the club’s vision and the player’s ambitions.
