Manchester City midfielder completes move to Serie A side, Como

Manchester City midfielder, Maximo Perrone has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side, Como after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at the Stadio Sinigaglia.

Born in Buenos Aires in 2003, Perrone began his career at Vélez Sarsfield before moving to Manchester City in January 2023.

He gained further top-flight experience in La Liga with Las Palmas before joining Como on loan last season, where he quickly became a standout presence in midfield, making 26 appearances and showcasing his intelligence, composure, and leadership.

Although first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium were severely limited, Perrone departs with a UEFA Champions League winners’ medal and memories of being part of one of the most iconic squads in club history.

The 22-year-old’s stint at the Etihad saw him make two appearances for Pep Guardiola in 2022/23, making him a part of City’s historic Treble winning team.

Perrone’s other accolade saw him celebrate the Club’s 2023 Super Cup win over Sevilla before he joined Las Palmas on loan for the entirety of the 2023/24 season.

In pursuit of regular game time, the midfielder then moved on loan to Spanish side Las Palmas, making 30 appearances in La Liga’s 2023/24 campaign and gained vital experience in a side battling to retain their top-flight status.

That development continued with a loan move to Como the following year, where he became a key figure in Cesc Fabregas’ team playing 26 times, assisting three goals, and helping them to a commendable 10th-place finish in Serie A.

Now, as confirmed by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Maximo Perrone is set to join Italian side Como on a permanent transfer following his temporary spell with the club, with the deal subject to international clearance at the time of announcement.

The 22-year-old bid farewell to City, stating:

“My time at Manchester City has come to an end but I’d like to thank everyone at the Club for their support and guidance during my invaluable time at the CFA.”

Perrone, reflecting on his departure, said:

“I am excited for this new adventure and I wish Pep Guardiola and the players every success in the future.”

With this move, Manchester City continue to manage their young assets with long-term value in mind, maximising immediate return while maintaining future control. For Maximo Perrone, this permanent switch presents the stability needed to build on two successful loan stints and establish himself as a key player in Italy’s top flight.

Softfootball reported earlier that Manchester City are eyeing Donnarumma as Ederson exit talks intensify.

Manchester City are closely monitoring Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract situation at Paris Saint-Germain, with the Italian goalkeeper yet to agree terms on a new deal with the European Champions according to journalist Nicolo Schira.
