Manchester City boss Guardiola describes squad recent rotational style

Manchester City gaffer Pep Guardiola has described the reason for his squad rotational change, calling it a move to equip his team, Softfootball can report.

Pep Guardiola used new faces last Wednesday against Huddersfield, where academy graduate Divine Muskara registered an assist for the Citizens. The manager also dropped players like Erling Haaland and Donnaruma to give younger players a chance to play competitive games.

Speaking to the club media, Guardiola said he will always prefer a rotational team to keep his team intact and consistent.

He said:

I’m not a guy who likes to play three games with the same players, but I wanted a bit of consistency of patterns and routine for the players. I prefer a rotated team and today was perfect for many players.

While speaking about Phil Foden’s recent performance in the three consecutive matches where the English player has scored and created two assists, Guardiola credited his position behind a striker as a reason for his awakening.

He buttressed:

Phil playing behind the striker is a real threat.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola will continue his squad rotational system against Burnley on Saturday. Guardiola and City’s men will be seeking to bounce back from their last Sunday draw against Arsenal when they welcome Burnley.

Although the game, based on past meetings, seems to be a good stride for Manchester City, who have never lost to Burnley but it doesn’t warrant an unguarded experiment from the Spanish gaffer.
