Ademola Lookman has opened up on how making the switch to represent the Super Eagles proved to be a defining moment in his football career, despite previously featuring for England at youth level.
The Atalanta winger made his senior Nigeria debut against Ghana in a 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff, and has since gone on to make 28 appearances, scoring eight goals for the national team.

Softfootball can confirm that Lookman discussed the impact of that decision in a recent interview with Sporty TV. He said:
It was massive for me because that was really a big turning point in my career. Ever since I’ve put on the Super Eagles jersey, it has been fruitful.
Lookman also praised the unity within the current Super Eagles squad, pointing to their run to the AFCON final as evidence of their progress. He added:
We have been able to achieve together as a team and we are still growing as a team. The togetherness of the team is something that is very special within the squad.
