Liverpool will be involved in Carabao Cup action on Tuesday when they welcome Southampton to Anfield for the round three of the competition, Softfootball reports.
The Reds lost 2-1 at Wembley to Newcastle United in the 2024-25 final and will be hoping to win the competition this season with the help of new record signing Alexander Isak.

Interestingly, it was the Swede that scored the decisive goal for the Magpies back in March to win the competition for Eddie Howe’s men and now he has switched sides and with Reds manager, Arne Slot hoping to use him as a secret weapon.
TEAM NEWS
Isak made his first start for Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League win over Atletico Madrid but has so far failed to score for his new club as French striker, Hugo Ekitike is currently on a fine goalscoring run.
Ekitike scored against Everton as Liverpool won 2-1 and the Reds celebrated it on their official X handle as it was the 50th win against the Toffees in the Merseyside derby.

Southampton was relegated from the premier league last season, and new manager Will Still will be hoping that a cup upset against Liverpool can inspire their push for promotion given that the Saints currently find themselves 19th in the Championship.
Southampton beat both Northampton Town and Norwich City without conceding a single goal to reach this stage, while the hosts are entering at the third round.
Southampton will hope the likes of Welington, Joe Aribo and Samuel Edozie recover from injuries. But there is a lot of competition in attack with Adam Armstrong, Leo Scienza, Jay Robinson and Ross Stewart all hoping to get a chance against Liverpool.
Liverpool probable XI:
Giorgi Mamardashvili: Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Curtis Jones, Endo; Federico Chiesa, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak
Southampton probable XI:
Bazunu; Roerslev, Harwood-Bellis, Stephens, Manning; Charles, Downes; Fellows, Azaz, Armstrong; Archer.
Softfootball Prediction
Liverpool are currently on great form and should get the win against the struggling Championship side. Liverpool 3-1 Southampton.
