Following the signings of Hugo Ekitike and potential arrival of Alexander Isak, Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez now is surplus to requirement at Liverpool.
Softfootball understands that the Reds are open to selling the former Benfica striker this summer as they hope to recoup some of their spending.

Fabrizio Romano, Speaking via his official X handle revealed that Liverpool are in talks with Saudi Arabia giants Al-Hilal for the services of Nunez.
He said:
“Discussions between Al Hilal and Darwin Nunez’s camp are still ongoing as Liverpool remain open to permanent sale.
“Talks to continue in the next days but Darwin still high on Al Hilal’s list.”
Darwin Nunez was part of the Liverpool side that won the Premier League last season, handing Arne Slot his first title in England and also helping the Red equal Manchester United’s most PL title wins at 20.
Overall, he scored 11 goals for Liverpool across all competitions. He scored just five goals in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup, and 1 in the League Cup, with four of the goals coming in the Champions League.
For Ekitike, he powered in 15 goals plus eight assists in 33 games in Germany. The Bundesliga may not be as competitive as the Premier League but his numbers are better than the hardworking Nunez.
Isak is on a different level to the two strikers and that explains why Newcastle United doesn’t want him to leave this summer and has already rejected two bids from the Reds as they insist on any interested club paying the full £150 million they want for the striker.

Last season, Isak’s strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers made him the first Newcastle player to score in eight consecutive Premier League appearances, beating the seventh-match streaks achieved by Alan Shearer (September-November 1996) and Joe Willock (April-May 2021).
The Sweden international went on to score 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions. He scored 23 goals in the Premier League, making him a top scorer in the league. He also scored in the Carabao Cup final, helping Newcastle win the trophy.
Liverpool are hoping Al-Hilal sign Nunez to create space for them to get Isak to Anfield for the 2025/26 season, where they would be defending their premier league crown and competing to win the UEFA Champions League.
