Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo has called on Nigerians to rally behind the national team ahead of their AFCON 2025 Round of 16 encounter against Mozambique, scheduled for today, 5th January 2025.
The former Arsenal forward and Olympic gold medalist, popularly known as Papilo, took to his official X handle to send a passionate message to Nigerians, urging them to stand firmly with the Super Eagles as they chase continental glory.

Softfootball gathered that Nigeria qualified for the knockout stage with a perfect group record, winning all three matches and finishing with 9 points after defeating Tanzania 2–1, Tunisia 3–2, and Uganda 3–1.
The Super Eagles are widely regarded as favourites going into the tie, but fans remain cautious due to the much-discussed AFCON “9-point curse”, which has seen teams with flawless group stages suffer surprise eliminations in previous editions.
