Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has expressed his hope that Victor Osimhen will join a Premier League club this summer rather than move to Saudi Arabia.

According to information available to Softfootball, Mikel believes the Nigerian striker still has much to offer at the highest level of European football.

Osimhen has enjoyed an impressive spell with Galatasaray, scoring important goals and becoming one of the most influential players in the Turkish Super Lig.

His performances have renewed interest from clubs in England, with several teams expected to monitor his situation during the transfer window.

Mikel, who enjoyed a long Premier League career with Chelsea, understands the demands of English football and believes Osimhen has the qualities to succeed there.

The striker’s pace, physical strength and finishing ability would provide an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their attack.

A move to England would also give Osimhen another opportunity to compete regularly at the highest level.

His final decision will depend on the offers available, but Mikel clearly favours a Premier League destination for his compatriot.
