Former Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton has revealed that Alex Iwobi was substituted during Fulham’s victory over Leicester City because of an injury concern.
The Nigeria international started the Premier League encounter but was replaced by Adama Traore in the second half as Fulham secured a 2-0 win.
Iwobi had reportedly been impressive before his withdrawal, particularly in combination with Emile Smith Rowe and Antonee Robinson on Fulham’s left flank.
Speaking about the decision, Albrighton suggested that the midfielder’s performance had been strong enough to make an injury the likely reason for his substitution.
Albrighton said.
I think it was an injury or a knock. Alex Iwobi was brilliant in the first half.
According to Softfootball, the former Leicester star also praised the link-up play between Iwobi, Smith Rowe and Robinson, which helped Fulham create some of their best opportunities.
The extent of Iwobi’s injury was not immediately confirmed, leaving Fulham fans hoping the Super Eagles midfielder will not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
