Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi played his part as Fulham eased past Watford 4 – 1 in round three of the FA Cup on Thursday, while fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey had to settle for a place among the substitutes.

Alex Iwobi featured for only 66 minutes before being replaced, with the Cottagers securing a comfortable win courtesy of goals from Rodrigo Munoz, Joachim Andersen, Timothy Castagne, and Raul Jimenez.

Softfootball notes the result eases Fulham into the next round of the competition with minimal fuss.

Elsewhere in Thursday’s FA Cup action, Everton made a winning start under interim boss Leighton Baines, beating Peterborough United 2-0 at Goodison Park following Sean Dyche’s dismissal. Cardiff have also progressed with a narrow 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

The wins set up an encouraging start to the year for both clubs as they continue their pursuit of cup glory alongside their league campaigns.
