Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has once again praised teenage sensation Estevão after the Brazilian produced another standout performance in the UEFA Champions League. The 18-year-old forward, who joined Chelsea from Palmeiras last summer, was on the scoresheet in the Blues’ emphatic 5-1 victory over Ajax on Tuesday night, a performance that shows his growing importance to the team.
Softfootball earlier reported that Maresca sees the young attacker as the future of the club, and his rapid development this season has only strengthened that belief. The teenager has shown maturity beyond his years, quickly adapting to life in England and becoming a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Maresca was full of admiration for the youngster’s attitude and work ethic, describing him as a rare talent among modern players, Romano posted;
I’m lucky to have Estevão! Sometimes we managers are worried with young players… they play just one good game and they think they are top,” Maresca said. Estevão is different. He’s playing well, but he’s polite and humble, and wants to learn every day, he told TNT.
Maresca’s admiration didn’t stop there, as he also spoke about Estevão’s long-term potential and how he envisions the youngster evolving into a more complete player for Chelsea in the years to come.

Still from top journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Italian tactician also hinted that Estevão could eventually transition into a central playmaker role that is similar to how Cole Palmer developed at Manchester City. Romano posted;
💙👀 Enzo Maresca on Estevão playing as number 🔟 in future: “He wants to learn, he needs time… but in my view, he’s similar to Cole Palmer”.

“Cole started wide at Man City then built some physicality. In future, Estevão can do the same and become a number 10”. pic.twitter.com/h1ISqUELDk
Estevão’s performances have not only impressed Maresca but also reignited excitement among Chelsea supporters, who view him as one of the brightest prospects in Europe. With his humility, hunger, and technical brilliance, the Brazilian teenager looks poised to play a key role in Chelsea’s future under Maresca.
