I Wasn’t Sad Just Frustrated, Flick Clears the Air on Raphinha Incident

2 Min Read

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has clarified the much-talked-about moment involving winger Raphinha, after images from the touchline sparked speculation about tension between both men. The Brazilian, who only recently returned from a long-term injury, has been easing his way back into the squad and even delivered an assist in Barça’s 3-1 win over Alavés, the same match in which the incident occurred, Softfootball reports.

Raphinha’s return has been a welcome boost for Barcelona, with the winger gradually regaining rhythm after several weeks on the sidelines. His involvement in the Alavés victory, particularly the well-timed assist, helped quieten concerns among fans about his form and fitness.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Flick addressed the situation with a smile, playing down rumours of disappointment or anger directed at the player, Romano posted:

Flick: My moment with Raphinha? Well, it was a funny thing, I don’t know who first described that I was sad!. I was frustrated, we lost a lot of balls, and I was also frustrated because we got two suspensions from the bench.

The clarification brings a calmer tone to what had quickly become a talking point, especially among supporters who worried the manager’s reaction reflected dissatisfaction with Raphinha. Instead, Flick insists his frustration was tied purely to the match situation, not the player.

As Barcelona continue their push to build momentum in the league, Raphinha’s steady reintegration coupled with Flick’s backing, suggests that harmony remains intact.
