Crystal Palace looked like they had finally broken their Nottingham Forest hoodoo, but Callum Hudson-Odoi’s sharp second-half finish meant the points were shared in a lively 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park. The result extends Palace’s winless run against Forest in the Premier League to 11 games, despite the Eagles leading for much of the contest. Softfootball reports
There was an extra edge to this meeting after the pre-season debate over which club would represent England in Europe. Forest, who ultimately claimed Palace’s Europa League spot, nearly landed the first blow when Chris Wood volleyed narrowly wide from a Morgan Gibbs-White cross.

Palace responded through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who stung the palms of Matz Sels before Oliver Glasner’s side finally broke through. Daniel Muñoz whipped in a superb delivery, and Ismaïla Sarr met it sweetly to guide the ball into the far corner. Palace almost doubled their lead before halftime as Marc Guéhi’s header kissed the outside of the post.

The momentum carried into the second half, and Will Hughes should have sealed it when a golden chance fell his way. His miss opened the door for Forest, and they didn’t waste the invitation. A perfectly weighted pass from Dan Ndoye who found the back of the net in their pl opener against brentford, sent Hudson-Odoi racing clear, and the winger kept his cool to rifle past former Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
From there, Forest looked the side more likely to find a winner, turning to new summer signings including douglas luiz and igor jesus from the bench. Palace, however, stood firm and held out for a draw that leaves them still searching for a first win of the season. For Glasner, the frustration will be about chances not taken, while Nuno Espírito Santo will take heart from his side’s resilience, even if back-to-back wins to start the season remain just out of reach.
