Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has described Alexander Isak as the club’s biggest asset amid growing reports linking the Swedish striker with some of Europe’s top clubs. Howe insists the Magpies have no intention of selling their star forward during the winter transfer window.

Isak has been in impressive form for Newcastle this season, particularly in recent matches, and Howe wants the striker to maintain his focus as speculation about his future continues. Softfootball reports that the Newcastle boss is keen for his leading attacker to concentrate on his performances rather than distractions away from the pitch.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Bournemouth, Howe said:

I think from our viewpoint we could not regard Alex highly enough, his contribution this season has been immense especially recently.

He added:

Everything off of the pitch will naturally fall into place with what he does on it. I’m sure there are lots of positive things in the future for him but at the moment I want him to concentrate on scoring.

Isak remains a key figure in Newcastle’s ambitions, with Howe confident the forward can continue producing the goals and performances that have made him one of the club’s most important players.
