A HUGE win to start Kasper’s reign!

Alejandro Grimaldo was the hero for the night as he grabbed two goals. It felt again, like the days they won the league unbeaten under former manager Xabi Alonso, who allowed his team play with freedom and they scored loads of goals.

It was a thrilling encounter that saw the away side Frankfurt dominate possession. They played with confidence as they were yet to lose a match until tonight.

However, Leverkusen were the more dangerous and clinical in front of goal. It was a perfect start for Hjulmand as manager in his first game in-charge.

Alejandro Grimaldo scored a beautiful free-kick to give Leverkusen the lead and just before halftime, Super Eagles of Nigeria winger, Nathan Tella was brought down inside the box and Patrik Schick stepped up to finish the penalty with aplomb.

Frankfurt reduced the score line through Can Uzun at the start of the second half. The good moment for Leverkusen almost went ugly when Robert Andrich and Ezequiel Palacio saw red cards but Hjulmand’s men held on and their resilience paid off as man of the match, Grimaldo netted his second goal of the game from another set-piece right at the death to secured a 3-1 win for Leverkusen. It was their first win of the season after playing a draw and losing the other under Ten Hag.
