Kane said the group represents the balance Thomas Tuchel wants between established voices and the younger core now stepping into bigger roles. He put his full quote together clearly in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted:

Harry Kane on England’s new five-man leadership group: “Our new leaders are Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Marc Guéhi, Declan Rice and me”, told Mirror.

Kane also noted that Tuchel is leaning on him even more this period, especially after strong performances from some of the younger players, such as England’s recent 2-0 win over Serbia. He explained that new leaders like Bellingham and Saka are already showing maturity beyond their age, while Guehi continues to grow into a commanding presence in the squad.

Kane talked about how this group marks a shift from the previous leadership era with Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire. He said the younger lads have stepped up naturally and that Tuchel wants a more shared approach to communication.

Kane also mentioned how being in good form helps him speak more in the dressing room and guide the rest of the team when needed. He seems comfortable carrying the load and sees himself as a link between Tuchel and a squad that is still evolving.

The England captain spoke at length about his admiration for Bellingham’s leadership qualities, saying the midfielder has a natural presence that lifts the group. He also touched on his strong relationship with Tuchel, which was a major factor in his decision to join Bayern Munich.

Kane described Tuchel as someone whose energy and clarity made it easy for him to trust the manager’s plans both at club and national level. He believes this new leadership structure will help England achieve consistency heading into the World Cup.

Kane said each member of the group brings something different, whether it is communication, tactical understanding or calmness under pressure. With qualifiers still ongoing and competition for places rising, Kane feels confident that the squad is moving in the right direction.
