Former Everton star Doucouré pens 2-year deal with NEOM SC

Former Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré has penned a two-year contract with NEOM SC, Softfootball reports.

The 32-year-old joins the Saudi Arabian club as a free agent after being released by Everton at the end of the 2024/25 season. This move is an ambitious move by the newly promoted club.

Reporting the story via his official X handle, football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Doucouré has accepted the move and ready for his new adventure.

Fabrizio wrote:

“Abdoulaye Doucouré has just signed a two year contract as new NEOM SC player.

“Agreement sealed with former Everton midfielder — info follows @footmercato”

French manager Christophe Galtier wanted Doucouré and has finally gotten his Man. He joined the likes of Nathan Zézé, Alexandre Lacazette, Marcin Bulka and Saïd Benrahma that are already at the club.

Doucoure who joined Everton from Watford in 2020, went on to make over 100 appearances for the Blues, becoming a firm fan favourite for his engine, tough tackles and goals.

The Mali international played a huge role in helping the Toffees avoid relegation over the last few seasons and famously scored the goal that secured their Premier League status in 2023.

It was a surprise when Everton failed to renew his contract and let him go as a free agent. Since, then he has been training alone and waiting for his opportunity for a new club.

Doucouré will be massive for NEOM SC as he can play everywhere on the pitch. He can be number 10 or as a six or in front of the defence because his work defensively is really exceptional. Doucouré has a fantastic ability for transitional plays and he is a fantastic box-to-box.

The Saudi Arabian League just got another gem after Darwin Nunez joined giants Al-Hilal just on Saturday from Premier League champions Liverpool, who lost the Community Shield to Crystal Palace today via penalties after the match ended 2-2 after 90minutes.
