FC Porto have rejected Galatasaray’s €20 million plus add-ons offer for goalkeeper Diogo Costa, with the Portuguese club making clear they will not part with their captain for anything below €40m.
Softfootball understands that the deal was turned down immediately, as Porto considers Costa one of their most valuable assets. The 25-year-old is protected by a €75m release clause and is under contract until 2027, giving the Dragões a strong negotiating position.

Galatasaray’s priority target remains Manchester City’s Ederson, but negotiations with the Premier League champions have stalled. Should talks with City collapse, the Turkish champions are expected to turn their full attention to Costa as the main alternative.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed Galatasaray’s stance on his official X account, posting:
“It’s likely that FC Porto will reject Galatasaray’s €20 million plus add-ons offer for Diogo Costa. However, Galatasaray’s plan is clear: if the Ederson deal doesn’t work out, the full focus will shift to Costa.
Gala are prepared to invest even more — also because Costa is only 25 and still has room to develop.
His contract runs until 2027.”
Porto remain determined to keep hold of their first-choice goalkeeper, who has already begun the season in strong form. Costa captained the side in their 2–0 win over Gil Vicente on Monday, marking his 100th career league victory and extending his clean sheet streak to two games.

Club sources insist that there is “no openness” to selling Costa at the current valuation, particularly given his importance under new coach Francesco Farioli. Unless Galatasaray returns with a significantly improved offer, the Portugal international is expected to stay at Estádio do Dragão beyond the summer window.
For Galatasaray, time is running short to secure a new No. 1 before the close of the transfer window. Whether they press harder for Ederson or decide to test Porto’s resolve with an improved offer for Costa could define the outcome of their summer business.
