Serie A side, AS Roma have announced the signing of Irish striker, Evan Ferguson on loan from Bright and Hove Albion for the 2025/2026 season. Softfootball gathers that the striker joins with an option to be bought permanently by the Italian side.
The 20 year old striker, joined Brighton in 2021 from Bohemians where he had started in career and made his senior debut in football in 2019. He made 60 appearances for the Seagulls netting 13 goals.

Ferguson becomes the first Irish player to adorn the Roma jersey. Welcoming him to the club, Roma wrote on their official website:
“Welcome to Roma, Evan!”
Ferguson will wear the number 11 jersey at AS Roma for next season.
Confirming the transfer on his verified X handle, transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano also posted the transfer. His post went:
“AS Roma confirm Evan Ferguson as new signing from #BHAFC.
“Deal sealed last week for €3m loan fee and €37m buy option clause not mandatory.”
Ferguson becomes the third player to leave the Brighton fold already as the Seagulls had lost Joao Pedro who they sold for £60m to Chelsea, Pervis Estupinan and Simon Adingra in the transfer window.
However Brighton manager, Fabian Hurzeler insists Evan Ferguson will return from his proposed loan to Roma as he deems him a very important player for the club.
When quizzed about the player’s loan transfer, the gaffer said:
“The individual players here have the environment where they can develop, and we decided that the loan for for Evan might be the best option.
“He’s still the player from us. He still brings a lot of quality with him. He’s a target player, and I’m sure if he gets more game time that one day, he will come back and will be a very important player for us.”
After injury worries and loss of form last season, Ferguson had spent a large part of last season on loan at West Ham United as well.
