England started brightly, with Jude Bellingham heading in Bukayo Saka’s cross in the 36th minute before doubling the lead two minutes later from close range off Harry Kane’s assist, Softfootball reports.

Mexico responded before halftime through Julián Quiñones, but Kane restored England’s two-goal cushion in the 60th minute from the penalty spot after Anthony Gordon was fouled by Raúl Rangel.

Raúl Jiménez converted a penalty in the 69th minute to make it 3-2 after Kane fouled him inside the box. England, reduced to 10 men following Quansah’s dismissal in the 54th minute, showed resilience to see out the victory.

England survived a major scare at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, coming from behind to defeat DR Congo 2–1 in the Round of 32, with captain Harry Kane delivering a match-winning performance.
