Former Nottingham Forest winger, Brennan Johnson scored the first goal for Spurs inside the first three minutes of the encounter and celebrated in tribute to Son.
The Magpies fought back after the break and equalised through former Leicester City winger, Harvey Barnes as he cut inside from the left wing before firing a right-footed past Antonin Kinsky at the goalkeeper’s near post.
Son was substituted in the 64th minute to an amazing reception by fans, both teams and the City of Seoul. The South Korean captain broke down in tears as he shook hands and hugged everyone before he was given a guard of honour as he left the pitch. It was the final game of his Tottenham career.
Meanwhile the whole game atmosphere went sad as Tottenham midfielder James Maddison picked up what looked like a very bad injury and manager, Thomas Frank revealed after the match.

He said:
“Sometimes in life and football things can be both beautiful and brutal. That is what we got today.
“It looks like with Madders a bad injury and then on the other side unbelievable scenes for Son from his team-mates and the respect from the Newcastle players.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s next match will be against Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich on Thursday while Newcastle United still trying to keep striker Alexander Isak will host LaLiga side Espanyol on Friday.
