Dortmund eager for three points over winless Villarreal at Signal Iduna Park

Borussia Dortmund welcome LaLiga side, Villarreal to the Signal Iduna Park as they eye three points in the Match-day 5 of the UEFA Champions League, Softfootball reports.

Dortmund got hammered 4-1 by Manchester City in their last Champions League match before the international break and will hope to bounce back against the Yellow Submarines, who are yet to get a win following three defeats and a draw.

Both sides are very attack minded but it is Dortmund that has should more of the forward threat in this competition, having scored 13 goals and conceded 11 and are currently in 14th with seven points while Villareal have just two goals and conceded six as they languish in the 32nd position with a point.

Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal have never met in the UEFA Champions League before and Tuesday’s encounter provides them the chance to write history as the side first to win this fixture.

Star Player

Dortmund Captain, Emre Can is undoubtably their key man and the star for the side heading into the fixture. Emre Can returned from a lengthen injury and despite making his first start against Stuttgart at the weekend, he scored in the 3-3 game. Dortmund will hope for his leadership when Villareal on visiting.

Nicolas Pepe is one of the leading lights in LaLiga this season and a very good player for Villarreal. In pre-season, Pepe inspired Villarreal’s 3-2 win over Arsenal and has carried that form into the season. The Ivorian currently has the most shots in his team and not afraid to step up when his team needs him.

Dortmund defenders, Niklas Sule and Ramy Bensebaini are still sidelined. Sule is out due to a toe injury while Bensebaini is scheduled to return next week. Guinea striker, Serhou Guirassy will start in attack, while Jobe Bellingham and Felix Nmecha are expected to play in midfield.

For Villarreal, Willy Kambwala and Pau Cabanes are out due to injury, while Manor Solomon remains sidelined with a back problem. Topscorer Georges Mikautadze will start in attack while Thomas Partey is likely to partner Santi Comesana in midfield and the central defence pairing would be Renato Veiga and Rafa Marin.
