Gianluigi Donnarumma says he feels proud and motivated as he begins life at Manchester City. The goalkeeper arrived from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2025 summer transfer window, signing a contract that runs until 2030.
Softfootball reports that the Italian international already carries huge experience despite being only 26. He started out at AC Milan, where he quickly became a regular between the posts, and later moved to PSG. With the French champions he lifted league titles and, most notably, last season’s UEFA Champions League.
City fans now welcome a player who has already won on the biggest stage, and Pep Guardiola adds another world-class option to his squad. In an interview uploaded on the club’s official website, the goalkeeper revealed his excitement about the move and his Pride in the opportunity to wear the colour blue.
He said:
I’m really happy and excited to be here at one of the best clubs in the world. This is a club with a lot of history behind it and is hungry for victory. I know there is a lot of responsibility, but I’m proud to help the club continue winning together.
Manchester City posted an announcement video on the team’s official X account with the message of making history.

He points to his past clubs with respect, but made it clear that his eyes are on Manchester now. Donnarumma also admits he has followed City closely in recent years.
He stated:
For sure they [AC Milan and PSG] helped me in my growth a lot. I won a lot in my career so I will always be thankful to them for everything they gave me. I’m really happy and proud to be here,” Donnarumma says. “This is one of the best clubs in the world, full of ambition. I know the responsibility is big, but I’m ready to give everything.
However, I am fully focused on my new challenge here now to make history here and become a symbol for the city and for the club But most of all to make the fans proud and win a lot of trophies together as it’s a historic club and deserves to be as high as possible.

I’m proud to be here and happy about the choice I’ve made, and I hope I will make history here and win as many trophies as possible, that is my goal. It’s a cl ub that has always fascinated me. I’ve always followed it [City] with pleasure.
I see everything around me like the training centre and the stadium, they are fantastic,You can’t tell what the club values until you really see it with your own eyes.
The buildings and the staff here are fantastic. I came here with all my family and for my first day at the club and my first emotions are that it looks like a real family. Everyone is smiling and I’m just happy and proud and I can’t wait this new adventure.
As he prepares for his debut season in England, Donnarumma says the mission is clear. He wants to help Manchester City and win everything possible with the team.
