Diego Simeone has reiterated Atlético Madrid’s commitment to Julián Álvarez, insisting the club are delighted to have the Argentine forward and want to help him continue developing.
Speaking about Álvarez’s future, Simeone said:
The club has made a decision, which Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has explained very well.
The Atlético manager added:
From a sporting perspective, we’re very happy to have a player like Julián, and we’ll help him continue to grow and improve.
Simeone’s comments reinforce Atlético’s long-standing position that Álvarez remains an important part of their sporting project and is not considered available for transfer.

Back in June 2026, as interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid began to intensify, Softfootball reported that Atlético had made their position clear: Álvarez would only leave if his full €500 million release clause was paid.
The club’s firm stance came amid reported interest from Barcelona and a €150 million proposal from Real Madrid. Atlético remain determined to keep the 26-year-old and continue building their attack around one of the most important players in Simeone’s squad.
