Diaz pens emotional words as he leaves Liverpool for Bayern Munich

Former Liverpool player Luis Diaz has penned an emotional statement after his exit from the English club on his Instagram page, Softfootball has gathered.

Luis Díaz has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield. And as Softfootball had earlier reported, Diaz joined the Bavarians on a four-year deal.

The Colombian international joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 and departs having made 148 appearances, scoring 41 goals, and collecting four major honours, including the Premier League title in his final season.

His explosive style, quick feet, and direct attacking threat quickly made him a fan favourite and an integral part of the former gaffer Jürgen Klopp’s high-intensity system.

Díaz’s time on Merseyside was marked by key contributions in both domestic and European competitions. His impact was particularly felt in the 2021–22 run-in, where he helped turn the tide in crucial league and cup fixtures, showcasing the flair and determination that defined much of his Liverpool career.

In a farewell message posted on his official Instagram account, the 27-year-old reflected on his time at the club with a sense of pride and gratitude.

He wrote:

“I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.

“Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart.”

He also made a poignant reference to late teammate Diogo, whose tragic passing earlier this year deeply affected the dressing room.

He added:

“It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.

“I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him.”

Díaz leaves Liverpool as a title winner, a popular figure among supporters, and a player whose time at Anfield was defined by moments of joy, resilience, and collective triumph.

Meanwhile, fellow colleagues of Diaz from Liverpool sent their wishes to the Columbian player after his Instagram post. The likes of captain Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai commented by sending love emojis to their former colleagues.
