Serie A club Cremonese are close to reaching an agreement to sign former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy who left the King Power Stadium this Summer.
The Englishman, who joined the Foxes in 2012 enjoyed a highly-successful 13 years at the club where he made 500 appearances and hit the back of the net 200 times. He helped the club to four trophies, including the Premier League in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account, Cremonese are working to finalise a deal for Jamie Vardy. The Italian club have submitted an improved contract offer to the Leicester City legend, who is currently a free agent. The post reads:
“Serie A side Cremonese are pushing to get Jamie Vardy deal done.
Improved contract proposal on the table for Leicester City legend who’s available as free agent.
Vardy will make final decision with his family soon.”
The 38-year-old forward has never played outside England in his professional career. A move to Serie A would represent his first venture abroad at senior level, and the club are aware of the impact Vardy’s arrival could have both on the pitch and commercially.
If he joins, Vardy will become the club’s first-ever English player, and just the second from the United Kingdom after Jack Hendry, Scottish defender who featured on loan for the club in the 2022/23 season.
Cremonese made a great start to life back in Serie A last weekend. They were given an extremely tough opening day fixture away at AC Milan, but they were able to pull off a shock 2-1 victory. The arrival of Vardy could be another huge boost as they look to avoid relegation back to Italy’s second tier.
In an earlier post, Softfootball reported that Benfica are on the verge of completing the signing of Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk in the final stretch of the transfer window in what is set to become the most expensive transfer in the club’s history
