Newcastle United are reportedly weighing up a move for Liam Delap as manager Eddie Howe continues plans to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Delap joined Chelsea last summer in a £30 million deal from Ipswich Town after attracting widespread interest following an impressive breakthrough season in the Premier League. The striker had scored 12 league goals for Ipswich despite the club’s relegation, convincing Chelsea to win the race for his signature.

However, the 23-year-old endured a difficult debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, struggling to consistently replicate the form that made him one of England’s most highly rated young forwards.

Despite the challenges, Chelsea still believe Delap possesses significant long-term potential and are not prepared to let him leave cheaply.

Reports indicate that Newcastle, along with Everton, are closely monitoring the situation. Both clubs are assessing attacking reinforcements, but Softfootball understands that Chelsea are understood to have placed a minimum valuation of £40 million on the former Manchester City academy product.

With interest beginning to grow, Chelsea’s asking price suggests the Blues remain confident in Delap’s future value, even as speculation surrounding his next move intensifies.
