Maresca has managed just one win in seven Premier League games, including a recent 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, followed by a frustrating 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
The result extended Chelsea’s struggles and leaves them also struggling to stay in the Champions League spots. While there’s no immediate plan to sack him, January will be crucial. A mid-season exit could happen if results don’t pick up.
Pressure rose further after Maresca described the 48 hours before Chelsea’s win over Everton as the worst since joining the club, a cryptic comment many saw as a dig at leadership.
Maresca is also reportedly frustrated by the lack of influence over transfers, especially after the club failed to bring in a top centre-back following Levi Colwill’s injury. Initially supportive of Chelsea’s structure, he now seems unhappy with the club’s vision and approach to player development.
