Chelsea’s 17:00 Friday deadline for a potential Enzo Fernández transfer has now passed without Manchester City or any other club submitting a written offer, Softfootball reports.
The £120 million exit conditions that had been verbally made available to Fernández’s representatives since May are now off the table. Chelsea had made those terms available to the midfielder’s camp to present to potential suitors, but the deadline has passed without a formal proposal.
Chelsea now consider Fernández unavailable for £120 million and are happy for the Argentina international to remain at Stamford Bridge for the 2026/27 season.
Manchester City have maintained daily contact with Fernández’s representatives, including throughout the last 48 hours, as they assessed whether to make a move for the midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether City will attempt to return with a different proposal after the deadline. Any renewed approach would now have to be made under different conditions, with Chelsea no longer bound by the previously discussed £120 million exit terms.
For now, Chelsea’s position is clear: they expect Fernández to stay and continue as an important part of the squad under Xabi Alonso.
